Food Safety & Allergen Note
A few honest, practical notes on how we grow our microgreens, how to keep them at their best, and how to check anything you need to before you order.
This is practical starter wording to help our customers handle fresh microgreens safely; it is not formal food-safety or allergen advice. Nutea Farms should have the final wording reviewed against current Irish and EU food-information rules (including Regulation 1169/2011) by a qualified food-safety professional or solicitor before relying on it.
How we grow
We grow our microgreens in small batches in a clean, controlled space in Enniscorthy, using good-quality seed and clean water. Everything is cut fresh to order rather than held in stock, so your greens reach you as lively as we can make them. Because we harvest with the week's growth, availability changes from week to week.
Keeping your microgreens fresh
Microgreens are a fresh, living product and are happiest cool. To enjoy them at their best, please:
- Keep them refrigerated as soon as you get them home.
- Use them within a few days of collection or delivery.
- Rinse them well before eating, just as you would any fresh, raw leafy produce.
A note on raw produce
Microgreens are usually eaten raw, so a quick wash before eating is always sensible. As with any raw, leafy or sprouted produce, anyone who is pregnant, very young, elderly or has a weakened immune system may wish to take extra care, wash thoroughly, or speak with a healthcare professional about eating raw greens. We share this simply so you can make the choice that is right for you.
Allergens and cross-contact
We grow from a range of seeds, including brassicas such as radish, broccoli and mustard, as well as sunflower and pea, all in the same small growing environment. Because of this shared space, cross-contact between varieties is possible, and we cannot describe any single variety as completely free of others.
If you have a specific allergy — for example to mustard or other brassicas — or you are avoiding a particular seed, please check with us first before ordering. Email contact@nuteafarms.com or call +353 83107 0699 and we will talk it through honestly with you.
Product information
In line with EU food-information rules (Regulation 1169/2011), we will always share the best information we have about what a given product is and how it was grown. We do not make medical claims, and we will never describe our microgreens as "allergen-free". If something is unclear, please just ask.
Questions are welcome
Allergen and dietary questions are genuinely welcome here — we would far rather answer them than have you wonder. Get in touch by email or phone, or have a look at our products and current delivery and collection options, and we will help you order with confidence.
